Women’s Basketball Drop Regular Season Finale to Livingstone Saturday Afternoon

SALISBURY, N.C. - The Winston-Salem State University women's basketball team falls in season finale to Livingstone College 48-41 inside New Trent Gymnasium. 
 
The Rams moved to (8-20, 2–16 CIAA).
 
Chloe Williams led the Rams with eight points, followed by Amaya Tucker with seven points and 10 rebounds.  
 
Quick Inside the Numbers
The Rams grabbed 44 rebounds, and scored 30 points in the paint, 18 points off turnovers, with 12 second chance points and 22 bench points. 
 
In the first quarter, Kennedi Simmons got the Rams on the board with a three-pointer 3-0 with 7:12 left. Simmons extended the lead back to three points on a lay-up 5-2 with 4:26 remaining. Chloe Williams put the Rams back in front 10-9 on a lay-up with 47 seconds left. LC would take the lead again, but Erin Hall gave the Rams the lead back on a lay-up, 12-11 with four seconds remaining in the quarter.
 
In the second quarter, Sierra Hunter tied the game at 14-14 on a lay-up with 8:49 on the clock. With the score 22-19, Chloe Williams cut the Blue Bears to one point, and she was fouled. Williams missed the and-one attempt 22-21 with 38 seconds remaining in the half. Sierra Hunter was fouled, and she connected on one free-throw tying the game 22-22 with 19 seconds left. Amaya Tucker was fouled, and she connected on both free throws, giving the Rams a 24-22 lead going into halftime.
 
In the third quarter, with the Blue Bears up 26-24, Jakaiya Mack tied the game with a jumper 26-26 with 5:35 left. Tolisha Walker gave the Rams the lead on a lay-up 28-26 with 4:05 remaining. The Blue Bears closed out the quarter on a 9-1 run. The Blue Bears took a 35-29 lead into the fourth quarter.
 
In the fourth quarter, with the Blue Bears up 40-30 Chloe Williams cut the score to 40-32 on a lay-up with 7:53 left. Jakaiya Mack got a huge steal and made a layup making the score 40-34 with 7:46 remaining in the game. The Blue Bears extended their lead back to seven points 42-35, and Jakiaya Mack answered back with a jumper making the score 42-37 with 4:18 remaining. The Blue Bears extended the lead to 10 points 47-37 with 2:49 left and eventually won the game.

The Rams will head to Baltimore, Maryland to play in the CIAA Tournament from February 25th- March 2nd.
