WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Student-Athletes
Camar Kyle and
Daylin Lee and head coach Robert Massey from the WSSU football team are set to head to Roanoke, Virginia on Tuesday, July 16-17 for the 2024 CIAA Media Day hosted by the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA).
The two-day event features meetings, social media pictures, community service, and a question-and-answer segment.
Camar Kyle from Raleigh, North Carolina is entering his senior year as a defensive end and
Daylin Lee is a rising sophomore from Shelby, North Carolina.
Kyle played and started in all 10 games for the Rams. The defensive captain finished last year with 52 total tackles, 25 solos, 15.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, 3 fumble recoveries, and 1 touchdown. Kyle finished 1st in all the CIAA in fumble recoveries (tied for 2nd in all D2 football), 3rd in tackles for loss, and 7th in sacks. He was named CIAA defensive lineman of the week for his performance against Elizabeth City St. with 4 total tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, 2 sacks. He was also a 2nd team ALL-CIAA selection.
Lee played and started in all 10 games for the Rams as a true freshman, he totaled 1845 yards 18 touchdowns, 6 interceptions, 5 rushing touchdowns, and 1 reception for 30 yards on 154 completions with 268 attempts. He was named Offensive Player of the Week against Johnson C Smith for throwing for 224 with 3 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, 12 carries for 42 yards on 20 completions of 35 attempts. He was also named All-CIAA Second Team. He also was named the CIAA.
Head football coaches and returning players from the 11 CIAA schools will discuss the upcoming season about their respective teams with media personality Stan Lewter, the event's emcee. Fans can watch Media Day on the CIAA Sports Network (theciaasn.com). The event will include the announcing of the Preseason All-CIAA football team and the predicted order of finish for the 2023 season. Media Day will also feature additional Q&A sessions between head coaches, players, and media, and remarks from CIAA Commissioner Jacqie McWilliams.
