WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Winston-Salem State University football is proud to announce the addition of several accomplished coaches to its football staff, strengthening leadership on both sides of the ball ahead of the upcoming season.
Calvin Randall has been named Associate Head Football Coach, Offensive Coordinator, and Recruiting Coordinator. Randall brings extensive experience in offensive strategy and player development, while also leading recruiting efforts to help build a competitive and sustainable program.
"Calvin brings a wealth of knowledge, coaching the offensive line, tight ends, quarterbacks, and serving as the offensive coordinator," said Woodbury. "As my offensive coordinator, I'm going to lean on him to help build a technique-sound unit and explosive unit."
Errick Hargrove joins the staff as Assistant Head Football Coach and Defensive Coordinator. Known for his defensive expertise and leadership, Hargrove will oversee the defensive unit and play a key role in overall program development.
"Errick Hargrove has been my best friend since 1998 – my former roommate and teammate here at Winston-Salem State," said Woodbury. "He brings over 15 years of defensive coordinator experience."
Christian Hairston has been hired as Offensive Line Coach, where he will focus on developing technique, toughness, and cohesion up front.
"Christian, brings experience from Clemson University and the NFL, where he started at offensive tackle for the Buffalo Bills and the Chargers," said Woodbury. "He will instill professional-level discipline and knowledge in our young men."
Antonio Wallace joins the staff as Defensive Line Coach, bringing a strong background in developing disciplined and physical defensive linemen.
"Antonio Wallace is a versatile coach who has coached nearly every position on the field," said Woodbury. "His character and understanding of the game align perfectly with leading our defensive line."
Ken Hill has been named Linebackers Coach, where he will enhance performance, football IQ, and execution within the defensive unit.
"Ken Hill and I go way back as rivals during his time at North Carolina Central," Woodbury shared. "He's one of the most instinctive linebackers I've played against, and he brings that same detail and instinct to coaching."
Additionally, Monte' Purvis will serve as Wide Receivers Coach.
"Monte' was great quarterback here at WSSU," Woodbury said. "As aformer quarterback, he sees the field differently. He'll help our receivers improve route running, understand leverage and coverages, and anticipate the ball."
"These hires represent our commitment to excellence, player development, and building a winning culture," said head Head Coach Tory Woodbury. "Each coach brings valuable experience and passion that will positively impact our student-athletes and our program."
The new staff members will begin their roles immediately as the program prepares for offseason training and the upcoming season.
