WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Winston-Salem State University volleyball team fell short, 3-2 to Fayetteville State University, inside the C.E. Gaines Center Wednesday night.
The Rams moved to 1-5 (0-1 CIAA) on the season.

How it happened vs.Fayetteville State (26-24, 25-17, 25-20, 25-17, 15-13)
In set one, the Rams came out hot with an early 3-0 lead on a
Malani Martin kill. The Broncos went on a 4-0 run giving them an 8-7 lead. The Rams answered back with a 4-0 run giving them an 11-9 lead on a
Zoe Chesson kill. The Broncos went on a 3-0 run to take set one 26-24.
In set two, the Broncos answered back early with a 7-0 run which extended their lead to 15-7 and ultimately took set two 25-17.
In set three, the Rams went on a 4-0 run, which extended their lead to 11-5 on an attack error. The Rams would push the lead to nine 19-10 on another attack error. The Broncos would cut the lead down to four, 22-18. The Rams would take set three 25-20 on a service error and come within one in the match as FSU led 2-1.
In set four the Rams went on a 6-0 run jumping out to 14-7 on an attack error. The Rams went on a 6-0 run pushing their lead to 24-13 on a
Janai Tillman kill. This fueled the Rams enough to take set four 25-17 and even the match at 2-2.
In set five, a back-and-forth set, the Rams jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead, as the Broncos continued to answer back.
Brooke Norwood gave the Rams a 13-12 lead on a kill. The Broncos closed the set out on a 3-0 run taking the set 15-13 and winning the match 3-2.
