PETERSBURG, Va. –
Gilberto Lorenzana from the Winston-Salem State University football team kicked the game-winning field goal to help the Rams upset Virginia State 15-14 Saturday afternoon inside Rogers Stadium.
The Rams improved to 3-1 (1-0 CIAA) on the season.

How it Happened
- Lorenzana kicked a 30-yard field goal with 14:42 to play in the second quarter to give the Rams an early 3-0 lead.
- The Trojans Tylique Ray scored on a 7-yard rush with 11:01 to play to put VSU up 7-3 going into halftime.
- Lorenzana kicked his second field goal of the game with 3:11 to play in the third quarter to put the Rams within one, 7-6.
- Ray had another touchdown run for VSU to increase their lead to 14-6 with 7:28 remaining in the game.
- Noah Marshall had a 78-yard touchdown run to put the Rams within two, 14-12 with 7:06 left in the quarter.
- With six seconds left, Lorenzana kicked the 20-yard game-winning field goal to help the Rams secure the 15-14 victory.
