Rams Drop Four Matches in Season Opener

Valdosta, GA. – The Winston-Salem State Volleyball battled hard but dropped four contests in its opening weekend during the Valdosta Tournament.

How it happened vs. Rollins College (25-17, 25-16, 25-18) September 6th 
The Rams jumped out to an early 4-2 lead on an Alayna Pruitt kill. The Tars would answer back with a 9-0 run pushing the score to 11-4. On a Zoe Chesson cut the Tars lead to 17-14. The Tars would take set one 25-17. Set two, the Lady Rams took a 6-2 run early, as the Tar went on an 8-1 taking control of the set and winning 25-16. In set three Rollins went on 6-0 run leading to win the three set 25-18.

How it Happened vs. Erskine College 3-1 (25-18, 25-16, 25-11, 26-24) 
The Flying Fleet took the first two sets, one 25-18 and set two 25-16. In set three the Rams went on a 12-4 run taking set three 25-11. In set four with the score tied 10-10, the Rams went on a 4-0 run making the score 14-10 on a kill by Malani Martin. A Lexis Tatum kill extended the Rams lead to 22-19. The Flying Fleet closed out the set on a 7-2 run taking the fourth set.

The Lady Rams will return to Winston-Salem for their home opener, on Monday, September 16th taking on Clinton College, inside Whitaker Gymnasium. The match will begin at 6:00 p.m.
