Rams Fall to Shaw Wednesday Night

Raleigh, N.C.– The Winston-Salem State University men's basketball team fell to Shaw University 70-68 inside the C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium. 

The Rams move to (3-13, 0-6 CIAA, 0-3 South) on the season.

Tyre Boykin led the Rams with 19 points, followed by Micah Jones with 11 points and Abou Camara with nine points, 11 rebounds, and three blocks. 

Quick Inside the Numbers
The Rams went 23-of-61 from the field, 8-of-22 from three, 14-of-20 from the free-throw line. The Rams grabbed 47 rebounds, 24 points in the paint, 20 points off of turnovers, 11 fast break points, 12 second chance points, and 20 bench points.

How It Happened 
In the first half, Jeremy Dixon gave the Rams a 8-4 lead on a and-one (16:27). With the game tied at 14-14, Lance Gill hit a three-pointer making the score 17-14 (10:16). The Rams went on a 7-0 run, giving them a 26-21 lead on a Masaun Moore-Bryant free-throw (5:54). The Bears went on a 5-0 run, tying the game at 26-26 (2:54). Tyre Boykin knocked down a three-pointer, giving the Rams a score of 29-26 (2:16). Jaiden Thompson put the Rams back ahead 31-30, on a lay-up with 1:01 remaining in the half. 

In the second half, the Bears went on a 5-0 run, taking a 35-31 lead (17:49). A Micah Jones three-pointer, cut the score to 37-36 (16:46). Shaw went on a 7-2 run, extending their lead to 44-38 (14:41). Tyre Boykin hit a three-pointer, making the score 46-43 (13:16). The Bears went on a 10-2 run, pushing the score to 56-45 (8:30). Lance Gill connected on a three-pointer, chipping the Shaw lead to 56-48 (8:05). The Rams went on a 6-2 run, cutting the score to 61-55 on a lay-up (2;31). The Rams went on7-2 run, making 69-66 on an Abou Camara jumper with 8 seconds remaining in the game.
