Women’s Basketball to Travel to Johnson C. Smith on Thursday, Livingstone on Saturday

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.- The Winston-Salem State University women's basketball team will hit the road traveling to Charlotte, North Carolina, on Thursday January 30th taking on Johnson C. Smith University. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. inside the Brayboy Gymnasium. 
 
WSSU will then head to Salisbury, North Carolina on Saturday, February 1st, taking on Livingstone College. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. inside the New Trent Gymnasium.

Series Information vs. Johnson C. Smith University
Since 2006 this will be the 31st match-up between the Rams and Golden Bulls. The Golden Bulls currently lead the series 24-8 and are on a three game-winning streak.  The Golden Bulls took all three games last season. Last time, the Golden Bulls defeated the Rams 65-59 on February 27th, 2024, during the CIAA Basketball tournament.
 
Series Information vs. Livingstone College
Since 2006 this will be the 26th match-up between the Rams and Blue Bears. The Bears currently lead the series 17-12. Both teams split both match-up last season. Last time, the Bears defeated the Rams 48-41 on February 24th, 2024. 
 
Rams Returners:
The Rams brought back six returners from last year's team. Sophomore La'Niya Simes, juniors Alexandria Warren, Jakaiya Mack, Chloe Williams, senior Christiana McLean, graduate students Sierra Hunter and Tolisha Walker
 
Rams Newcomers:
During the off-season, the Rams welcomed in freshman Alana Biosse, sophomore's Khauri Little, Karina Scott, Zion Duncan, juniors Kierran Walker, Jahmaria Miles, graduate students Jaleesa Lanier and Maya- Madison Walker.
 
CIAA Preseason/Polls
Jakaiya Mack was named to the 2024-2025 All-CIAA Women's Basketball Preseason Team Frontcourt. Mack finished last season playing in 15 games and started in 12. She averaged 23 minutes with 8 points per game, was 45% FG, and 57% FT. The women were selected to finish tenth. 
 
Last Time Out 
The Rams defeated Virginia University-Lynchburg 71-44 on Monday, January 27th. Both Christina McLean and Karina Scott led the Rams with 13 points each, followed by Jakaiya Mack with 10 points. 
 
Scouting Report 
The Rams' leading scorer is Christiana McLean averaging 10.1 points a game, followed by La'Niya Simes with 7.7 points The Rams are averaging 56.6 points a game. 
 
Johnson C. Smith University (5-12, 1-8 CIAA, 0-3 South) 
The Golden Bulls fell to Shaw University 73-50 on Tuesday, January 28, 2025. JCSU was led by Betsey Burnett with 22 points. 
 
Livingstone College (7-13, 5-5 CIAA, 1-2 South) 
The Blue Bears defeated Fayetteville State 68-66 on Tuesday, January 28, 2025. LC was led by Thalia Carter with 17 points.

The women will host Bluefield State University on Wednesday, February 5th. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. inside the C.E. Gaines Center. The theme is Camo Day, and we will also recognize National Women in Sports Day.
