Lady Rams Fought Hard Drops Road Game to Claflin Saturday

ORANGEBURG, S.C. -  The Winston-Salem State University women's basketball team stumbles at Claflin University 80-63, inside the Tullis Arena.

The Rams moved to (6-16, 2–10 CIAA, 1-5 South) on the season.

Christiana McLean led the Rams with 19 points, followed by Kierran Walker with 15 points, and Jakaiya Mack chipped in with 10 points. 

Quick Inside the Numbers
The Rams went 22-of-52 from the field, 5-of-11 from three, and 14-of-21 from the free-throw line. The Rams grabbed 37 rebounds, and scored 24 points in the paint, 19 fast break points, and 22 bench points. 

How It Happened
In the first quarter, the Panthers took an early 7-2 lead (5:38). The Panthers extended their lead to 11-4 (2:57). A Christiana McLean three-pointer made the score 19-11 as time expired, giving the Panthers a 19-11 going into the second quarter. 

In the second quarter, the Panthers lead grew to 23-11 (9:02). Khauri Little cut the score 25-17 on a lay-up (7:46). The Panthers went on a 7-0 run, pushing the score 34-17. The Rams answered back with a quick 6-0 run, chipping the score 34-23 on a Kierran Walker three-pointer (4:55). The Panthers closed out the half on a 6-0 run, taking a 40-27 lead into halftime. 

In the third quarter, a Jakaiya Mack lay-up trimmed the score 44-31 (7;45). Kierran Walker connected on a three-pointer, making the score 46-36 (5:34). Claflin went on a 6-0 run, giving them a 52-36 lead (4:20). The Panthers lead grew to 59-38 with 1:17 left in the quarter. The Rams went on a 5-0 run, cutting the score 59-43 on a La'Niya Simes and-one with 30 seconds remaining in the quarter. Claflin took a 61-43 into a 61-43 lead into the fourth quarter. 

In the fourth quarter, Alana Biosse made the score 63-48 on a jumper (6:13). Two Christiana McLean free-throws trimmed the score 71-58 (3:02).
