RALEIGH – The Winston-Salem State University softball team fell to Lincoln (Pa) and Virginia State to closeout the CIAA Roundup at Walnut Creek Athletic Complex.
The Rams move to 8-8 (3-3 CIAA) on the season.
How It Happened – Lincoln (Pa)
The Rams took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning and then added a run in the top of third to go up 2-0. WSSU scored another run in the top of the sixth inning, but the Lions answered back scoring two runs of its own. Lincoln took the go-ahead lead in the bottom of the seventh to win the game 4-3.
Nevaeh Cruz pitched 6.0 innings with three strikeouts.
How it Happened – Virginia State
Even though VSU scored one run in the top of the first inning, the game was a defensive stand throughout. VSU scored five unanswered runs to take a 6-0 lead over the Rams.
BreAnna Steele pitched 4.0 innings with two strikeouts and
Nevaeh Cruz pitched 3.0 innings.
