FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. –The Winston-Salem State University softball team swept Fayetteville State Friday afternoon.
The Rams took game one, 3-2 and game one 4-3 to move to 10-8 (5-3 CIAA, 2-0 South) on the season.

The Rams got on the board first with a single from

Malia Simmons in the top of the first inning. The Broncos got on board second with a run of it own tying the game 1-1. FSU took the 2-1 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning. The Rams tied the game at 2-2 to send the game into extra innings. WSSU took the go-ahead lead on a wild pitch scoring
BreAnna Steele.
Neveah Cruz pitched 5.2 innings with two strikeouts and
Jyla Thomas earned the win and save moving to 4-2, 0 S on the season after pitching 3.1 innings with three strikeouts.
How it Happened – Game 2
FSU took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. Malia Simoons grounded out to shortstop scoring
TaKara Ware to tie the game 1-1 in the top of the third inning.
Miranda Wilson gave the Rams a 2-1 lead in the top of the fourth inning after hitting a double to left field and scoring
Tymiah Wimbush.
TaKara Ware scored M. Wilson to give the Rams a 3-1 lead in the top of the fourth inning. FSU added a run in the bottom of the fifth to trail the Rams 3-2. The Rams added a run in the top of the seventh inning to take a 4-2 lead over the Broncos. FSU scored another run in the bottom of the seventh but
Jyla Thomas got the last batter out on a groundout to short stop to secure the win.
Jyla Thomas pitched the entire game with facing 31 batters with four strikeouts.
WSSU will be back in action on April 1st hosting Shaw University at for a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Twin City Ballfield.
