WSSU’s Hosts First-Ever CIAA Flag Football Roundup

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Winston-Salem State University Department of Athletics and University Recreation has officially begun its 2025 women's flag football season.

The Rams hosted one of two Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Round-up events March 5-6 at Civitan Park.

Other teams included Bluefield State, Bowie State University, Claflin University, Fayetteville State, Johnson C. Smith, Livingstone College and Virginia Union.

Earlier this year, the Rams got to partake in the NFL initiative and participate in the flag football tournament in Florida.

During this first round-up the Rams took on Virginia Union and Livingstone College. On day two, the Rams took on Fayetteville State and Johnson C. Smith.

The Rams ended up finishing the round-up 3-1, defeating Livingstone College, Fayetteville and Johnson C. Smith.

Later this month, WSSU will travel to Richmond, Va., hosted by Virginia Union University for CIAA Round-Up #2.

The season will culminate on April 10, at the CIAA Women's Flag Football Championship in Charlotte, N.C.
