WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Winston-Salem State University softball team split with Chowan University Friday afternoon at Twin City Ballfield.
The Rams are now 3-5 on the season.
How it Happened – Game 1
• The Hawks got on board first in the top of the second inning to take a 1-0 lead over the Rams
• The Rams scored three runs on four hits to lead 3-1 over Chowan
• The Rams added a run to take a 4-1 lead over Chowan.
• The Hawks scored two more runs in the top of the seventh to bring the score to 4-3, but Rams pitcher
Jyla Thomas threw a strike to seal the deal for WSSU.
Jyla Thomas pitched the entire game with six strikeouts.
How it Happened – Game 2
• The Hawks got on board first in the top of the first inning. The Rams answered back by scoring three runs on three hits to take a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the first inning.
• WSSU took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.
• The Hawks scored 12 unanswered runs to win the game 12-3.
WSSU will be back in action on Saturday, March 15, at Elizabeth City State University for a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m.
