Rams fall to Tuskegee in Red Tails Classic

Montgomery, Al. – The Winston-Salem State University football team fought hard but dropped its season opener 20-17 to Tuskegee University in the Red Tails Classic inside the Cramton Bowl Sunday evening.

Offensive Highlights
  • QB Daylin Lee was efficient through the air, completing 9 of 19 passes for 169 yards and two touchdowns, though he was picked off once and sacked three times.
  • WR Jahari Mitchell was Lee's big-play target, hauling in 2 catches for 84 yards, including a 50-yard touchdown strike.
  • WR Davontay Deloatch provided another scoring punch with 3 receptions for 55 yards and a 34-yard TD.

  • Tuskegee got on board first with a field goal in the first quarter.
  • Lee threw a 50-yard pass to Jahari Mitchell for a touchdown to end the first quarter and the Rams led 7-3.
  • Gilberto Lorenzana had a 34-yard field goal to give the Rams a 10-3 lead going into halftime.
  • The Golden Tigers took a 17-10 lead to end the third quarter.
  • Daylin Lee threw a 34-yard pass to Davontay Deloatch to tie the game at 17.
