WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Winston-Salem State University football team fell to Virginia State 34-33 Saturday afternoon inside Bowman Gray Stadium.
The Rams move to 2-2 (0-1 CIAA).

How it Happened
- WSSU got on the board first with a 4-yard pass from Daylin Lee to Jayden Grimes to make the score 7-0 with 6:39 to play in the first quarter.
- VSU answered back with a field goal to cut the lead to 7-3 with 1:20 to play in the first quarter.
- Gilberto Lorenzana hit a 25-yard field goal to increase the Rams lead to 10-3 in the second quarter.
- VSU scored a touchdown to tie the game at 10 with 4:21 to play in the second quarter.
- Lorenzana kicked a field goal to give the Rams a 13-10 lead going into halftime.
- Out of the break, VSU took a 17-13 lead and then increased their lead to 20-13 with 5:24 to play in the third quarter.
- Davontay Deloatch caught a 19-yard pass from Lee for a touchdown to come with seven, 27-20.
- The Trojans answered back with another touchdown making the score 34-20 going into the fourth quarter.
- Lee had a 3-yard run to give the Rams a 34-27 score with 11:15 to play in the game.
- Noah Marshall had a 4-yard run to bring the Rams within one, but Lorenzana missed the extra point to tie the game.
