Winston-Salem, N.C– The Winston-Salem State University men's basketball team stumbles against Virginia State University 77-71 inside the C.E. Gaines Center.

 The Rams moved to (7-7, 2-3 CIAA).

Masaun Bryant led the Rams with a season-high 22 points, followed by Tyre Boykin with 16 points, and Khyelle Ingram chipped in 12 points.

The Rams went 23-of-64 from the field, 5-of-25 from three, and 20-of-20 from the free-throw line. The Rams grabbed 37rebounds, scored 26 points in the paint, and 34 bench points. 

How It Happened 
In the first half, a Abou Camara hook shot gave the Rams a 6-4 lead (16:01). The Trojans went on a 5-2 run, cutting the lead to 12-11 on a three-pointer (12:33). Masaun Byrant went on a 5-0 run, giving the Rams a 17-11 on a lay-up (11:25). WSSU extended their lead to 23-16 on a Masaun Bryant (7:40). VSU went on a 5-0 run, trimming the lead to 23-21 on a lay-up (6:05). The Rams answered back with a 5-0 run, taking a 28-21 lead on two Tyre Boykin free-throws (5:28). The Trojans made the score 33-28 on a lay-up (2:50). A VSU jumper cut the lead to 35-32 with 7 seconds remaining in the half. WSSU took a 37-32 lead into halftime. 

In the second half, the Trojans went on a 9-3 run, taking a 41-40 lead on two free-throws (16:36). A Tyre Boykin jumper tied the game at 46-46 (13:03). VSU took a 52-48 lead on a three-pointer (11:17). WSSU went on a 6-2 run, taking a 57-56 lead on two Masaun Bryant free-throws (8:03). VSU answered back with a 13-2 run, taking a 69-59 lead on a three-pointer (3:50). The Rams went on a 7-1 run, cutting the score to 74-69 on a Tyre Boykin three-pointer (0:35). The Trojans closed out the game at the free-throw line.
