Men's Basketball Suffers a Tough Loss to Bluefield State Wednesday Night

Winston-Salem, N.C– The Winston-Salem State University men's basketball team fell to 84-75 inside the C.E. Gaines Center.

 The Rams moved to (6-6, 1-2 CIAA).

Tyre Boykin led the Rams with 23 points, followed by Khyelle Ingram with 16 points. 

Quick Inside the Numbers
The Rams went 29-of-56 from the field, 5-of-13 from three, and 12-of-22 from the free-throw line. The Rams grabbed 33 rebounds, scored 28 points in the paint, and 36 bench points. 

How It Happened 
In the first half, the Rams took a 6-4 lead on an Isaiah Ray hook shot (17:11). WSSU went on a 6-2 run, extending their lead to 16-11 on a Khyelle Ingram jumper (9:43). A Tyre Boykin lay-up gave the Rams a 20-13 lead (5:55). BSU went on a 8-1 run, tying the game at 21-21 on a lay-up (3:17). An Abou Camara lay-up put the Rams ahead 23-21 (2:55). The Rams took a 25-24 lead into halftime. 

In the second half, the Big Blue went on a 6-1 run, taking a 30-26 lead on a three-pointer (18:27). A Tyre Boykin three-pointer made the score 30-29 (18:08). The Big Blue extended their lead to 37-31 on a made free-throw (15:04). A Lance Gill three-pointer cut the lead to 43-41 (11:40). BSU went on a 9-2 run, extending to 54-45 (8:48). The Rams cut the lead to 56-50 on a Khyelle Ingram jumper (7:33). The Big Blue took a 65-54 lead on a made free-throw (5:17). An Abou Camara jumper cut the score to 69-63 on a jumper (3:18). WSSU couldn't cut the deficit under six points, as the Big  Blue sealed the game at free-throw line.

The men will return to action on January 10, taking on Elizabeth City State University. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00  p.m. inside the C.E. Gaines Center.
