Jonestown, P.a. - The Winston-Salem State University men's golf team closed out its postseason run with a
12th-place finish at the
NCAA Division II Regional, carding a two-round total of
7,029 (+70).
The Rams opened the regional with a team score of
3,600 (+35) before matching that effort with a
3,429 (+35) in the final round. All five golfers contributed to the team total as WSSU competed against one of the strongest fields of the season.
Head Coach Charles Penny II, stated, "this has been an amazing year, and we couldn't have acheived what we did without your support. Thank you, alumni, friends, and donors. We're excited about the momentum we've built and can't wait to see what next season brings."
Cameron Lutterloh led WSSU individually, finishing
tied for 30th with a score of
74 (+9). Lutterloh posted consistent rounds and paced the Rams throughout the tournament.
Tanner Frye turned in a solid performance as well, placing
T-37 after carding a
76 (+11).
Chase McLaughlin and
Godfrey Nsubuga each finished
T-58, with McLaughlin shooting
75 (+16) and Â
Connor Lineberry rounded out the Rams' lineup with an
80 (+24).
The NCAA Regional appearance caps a strong season for WSSU men's golf, as the Rams gained valuable postseason experience against top Division II competition and continued to build momentum for future campaigns.
