MEBANE, N.C. – Winston-Salem State University men's golf team captured second place at the 2026 CIAA Championships with
Cameron Lutterloh surged late to secure individual medalist honors following three rounds at Mill Creek Golf Course.
Fayetteville State responded under pressure, posting steady pars and limiting mistakes down the stretch to finish at +8 for the tournament. The Broncos closed with a +2 final round, holding off Winston-Salem State (+12) as the Rams hunted late birdies in a bid to overtake the leaders. Virginia State finished third at +31, followed by Bluefield State (+36) and Livingstone (+51).
Cameron Lutterloh (Winston-Salem State) produced the defining charge of the championship, catching fire over the final four holes as part of a sensational 5-under-par 67 in the closing round. Lutterloh vaulted past the field to finish at 4-under-par (212), becoming the only golfer in the championship to complete all three rounds under par.
Winston-Salem State finished with three golfers inside the top 10.
WSSU opened the championship with a +10 round but quickly responded with one of the strongest rounds in the field during round two, shooting
even par as a team to climb into contention.
The Rams stayed steady in the final round (+2), maintaining their position near the top of the leaderboard behind consistent scoring across the lineup. Their ability to bounce back after the opening round and sustain momentum proved key in locking in the runner-up finish.
