WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The Winston-Salem State University football team (0-3) will hit the road for its second Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association game of the season when the Rams take on Livingstone College (1-2) Saturday, Sept. 19, at Alumni Memorial Stadium in Salisbury, North Carolina. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.

THE SERIES
Winston-Salem State and Livingstone have met 61 times dating back to 1940, with the Rams holding a 46-14-1 advantage in the all-time series.

Winston-Salem State won the most recent meeting, defeating the Blue Bears 42-10 on Oct. 18, 2025, at Bowman Gray Stadium.

The Rams have won two straight meetings against Livingstone after the Blue Bears claimed back-to-back victories in 2022 and 2023. Prior to that stretch, Winston-Salem State had won 12 consecutive matchups from 2005 through 2021.

Winston-Salem State has also recorded a 7-1 home record and a 7-1 road record against Livingstone. The Rams' largest victory in the series came in 2012, when WSSU defeated the Blue Bears 58-0.

The first meeting between the programs came in 1940, when Livingstone defeated Winston-Salem State 12-0.

SCOUTING THE RAMS
Winston-Salem State enters its second CIAA contest of the season with several players making an impact across all three phases through the opening three games of the 2026 season.

On offense, the Rams have utilized multiple quarterbacks, with Kendall McKoy leading the way with 18 completions on 32 attempts for 108 yards. Deiondre Goldston has added 94 passing yards on 13 completions, while Florentino Lopez has contributed 55 yards through the air.

The Rams have also found consistency on special teams behind Anthony Barrett. Barrett has punted 18 times for 746 yards, averaging 41.4 yards per punt, with a season-long punt of 71 yards. His average currently ranks third in the CIAA.

WSSU defense has been led by Maurice Odom, who has registered 26 total tackles through three games, including 17 solo stops and two tackles for loss. Camden Martin has also been active defensively, recording 18 total tackles.

As a unit, the Rams have accumulated 225 tackles and 7.5 tackles for loss while holding the top spot in the CIAA in passing defense. Odom's 26 tackles currently rank fifth in the conference.

SCOUTING LIVINGSTONE
Livingstone enters Saturday's matchup with Winston-Salem State at 1-2 overall and 1-1 in CIAA play. The Blue Bears are coming off a 44-30 road win at Bluefield State, their first victory of the season.

The Blue Bears have established themselves as one of the conference's most productive offensive teams. LC ranks second in the CIAA in both scoring offense and rushing offense, with quarterback Andrew McClain ranking second individually in rushing.

McClain has been a major component of the Blue Bears' ground attack, including a 130-yard performance against Virginia Union and 64 rushing yards in last week's win over Bluefield State.

Through the air, quarterback Brandon Edinburgh Jr. ranks fourth in the CIAA in passing, while wide receiver Davyn Reid sits sixth in the conference in receiving. The two have already connected for a touchdown this season, including a 40-yard scoring pass in LC's season opener against Allen. Edinburgh Jr. also accounted for 176 passing yards in the Blue Bears' win at Bluefield State.

Special teams have been another strength for Livingstone, with the Blue Bears ranking first in the CIAA in punting. That production complements an offense that has shown the ability to create explosive plays both on the ground and through the air.

Defensively, Livingstone has been particularly disruptive in the backfield. The Blue Bears rank first in the CIAA in sacks, led by Joshua Jackson, who ranks second individually in the conference. Sammy Smith also ranks among the conference leaders in sacks, sitting fifth.

Manny Moss has been another player to monitor defensively, ranking first in the CIAA in tackles for loss. With multiple players ranking among the conference leaders in tackles for loss and sacks, Livingstone has shown the ability to create pressure and disrupt opposing offenses behind the line of scrimmage.

Winston-Salem State will stay on the road to take on the Trojans of Virginia State University on Saturday, Sept. 26, in Ettrick, Virginia. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Rogers Stadium.
