Tim Wells is entering his fifth season as assistant basketball coach at Winston Salem State University under Bobby Collins. After head coaching a professional European team last season and winning a league championship in Bosnia-Herzegovina for Triland Basketball Club in 2010-11, Wells returned home to the sidelines at Winston-Salem State University.  Prior to this season, Wells head coached the professional basketball team the (ABA) Carolina Cheetahs in Greensboro, N.C.

Wells, a four-year graduate of North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC, was a two year co-captain and three-year starter for the Wolfpack.  Wells, who holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interpersonal Communication, ranks seventh in free-throw shooting percentage (83%) at North Carolina State. He also ranks ninth in all-time North Carolina State history in three-point field goal percentage at 41%.  He received the “John Speaks” Award voted as best teammate in 2000.

After a solid career at North Carolina State, Wells went on to play professional basketball in Australia, Germany, Ecuador, Indonesia, and Africa. As a basketball ambassador, he has travelled the globe conducting camps, clinics, and seminars across the world. Wells also founded “Focus, Fight, Finish” a basketball skills development group prior to coaching abroad.  The passion, dedication and commitment to excellence that Coach Wells exudes throughout his coaching and playing career will prove invaluable for the Rams this season.
