Final Stats

Winston-Salem, NC - The Bobcats of Georgia College & State University handed the Lady Rams of Winston-Salem State University their first loss of the season as they defeated the host team Lady Rams 64-58 in second-day action from the 2005 Lady Rams Basketball Classic at the C.E. Gaines Center in Winston-Salem, NC on Saturday afternoon.

The Bobcats jumped out to an early lead as they hit seven of their first 11 field goals, opening up a 15-6 lead with 13:51 to play in the first half, a lead which they would never relinquish.

GCSU pushed that lead to a first-half high of 13 points just before the close of the period as WSSU trailed heading to the locker room at halftime by the score of 36-25.

The second half got no better for the Lady Rams in the early going as WSSU fell behind by as many as 14 points midway through the second period of play.

However, to the Lady Rams' credit, a strong defensive push got WSSU back into the game as a 16-4 run cut GCSU's lead to as little as four points at 62-58 with 15 seconds to play in the contest.

WSSU would come up just short as the final horn sounded with GCSU earning the four-point win, handing the Lady Rams their first loss of the season.

With the loss, the Lady Rams fall to 2-1 overall (0-0 CIAA) while GCSU improves to 2-1 overall with the win.

The Lady Rams return to action Tuesday, November 22, 2005 at 5:30 pm as they play host to Wingate at the C.E. Gaines Center in the first men/women's doubleheader of the season.
