Final Stats
Durham, NC - The regionally-ranked North Carolina Central University Lady Eagles handed the Lady Rams of Winston-Salem State University a 63-55 loss on Saturday evening at McClendon-McDougald Gymnasium in Durham, NC as WSSU dropped their fourth straight decision to fall to 7-15 overall (2-9 CIAA, 1-4 CIAA West) on the season.
The Lady Rams, losers of four straight games and ten of their last 12 contests, played well on Saturday evening yet were unable to overcome the consistent offense and stingy defense of a very talented North Carolina Central women's basketball team.
Senior forward Janet Robinson paced the Lady Rams with 14 points as she and teammate Mikasa Williams (10 points) were the only two WSSU players in double figures.
Junior forward, and All-CIAA Preseason Team selection Shalonda Carter chipped in with nine rebounds in the loss.
The loss drops WSSU to 7-15 overall as they slide to 2-9 in the CIAA and 1-4 in the CIAA Western Division in the process.
With the win, the Lady Eagles move to 15-4 overall and improve to 6-3 in the CIAA as they continue to look like the frontrunner in the CIAA Western Division.
The Lady Rams will return to action on Tuesday, February 7, 2006 at 5:30 pm as they travel to hostile Emery Gymnasium in Raleigh, NC on the campus of Saint Augustine's College to square off against the Lady Falcons in an important CIAA Western Division contest.
