BREVARD, NC - The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (4-3) powered their way to a 2-0 road win over the Brevard Tornados (6-3), Sunday afternoon. The WSSU tandem of senior catcher Kayla Woodbury and freshman outfielder Tanaya Pettus accounted for both WSSU runs when the duo hit back-to-back home runs in the third inning to lead the Lady Rams to the win.

The Lady Rams had a solid effort on both sides of the ball in the win as the team held the Tornados to just three hits while totaling six hits of their own. The Lady Rams totaled three extra-base hits in the game. In addition to home runs by Pettus and Woodbury, WSSU sophomore infielder Britney Cato added a double. Cato finished the game with a two-for-three effort from the plate while fellow sophomore infielder Nikki Lynch added a two-for-four effort as well.

The Lady Rams scored both runs in the third inning on the back-to-back homers. The Lady Rams then shut things down on defense to hold off the Tornados and pick up the 2-0 shutout win. The Lady Rams also recorded no fielding errors in the game. WSSU sophomore pitcher Brittany Lane (3-2) picked up the pitching win, going all seven innings with eight strikeouts and no walks.
