Box Score

WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (14-10, 8-1 CIAA) broke out their offense in an 8-0 win over the Shaw Lady Bears (9-27, 6-4 CIAA). The Lady Rams had an offensive breakout to pick up the win with eight runs in four innings of play and seven team hits.

The Lady Rams scored in every inning of the game, including three in each of the first two innings and one run in the third and fourth inning. Sophomore infielder Britney Cato led the way for the Lady Rams with a three-for-three effort at the plate with four RBI and two runs scored. She did the most damage in the first inning when she hit a three-RBI home run to put the Lady Rams on the scoreboard 3-0. With the comfortable lead, the Lady Rams never looked back and turned up their defensive efforts to hold the Lady Bears scoreless and take the win.

WSSU sophomore pitcher Brittany Lane (7-4) took home the pitching win, going all five innings for the Lady Rams with nine strikeouts, three hits, no runs allowed, and no walks.
