WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The score is correct. The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (15-10, 9-1 CIAA) exploded for a 22-0 win over the Livingstone Blue Bears (4-8, 2-6 CIAA), Friday afternoon at Randy Jones Field in Twin City Park. Everything went the Lady Rams' way as the team took advantage of 19 total hits and seven Livingstone fielding errors to pick up the dominating victory.
The Lady Rams scored in all four innings of the game, including scoring 10 second-inning runs. The team opened the day with a bang, scoring six first inning runs. The scoring didn't end after the break out second inning as the team added five third-inning runs and a fourth-inning run. WSSU sophomore infielder Britney Cato led the way for the Lady Rams with four RBI on two hits and three runs scored. Freshman outfielder Tanaya Pettus added two RBI with three runs scored on a three-for-five effort at the plate with a home run. Freshman infielder Hope Billings added three RBI as well.
Sophomore pitcher Brittany Lane (9-4) took home the pitching win with five innings pitched with three hits allowed and 11 strikeouts.
