HAMPTON, VA- The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (0-7, 0-2 CIAA) couldn't seem to find the answers as the team took a four-set loss to the Elizabeth City State Lady Vikings (4-8, 2-0 CIAA) on the opening day of the 2011 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Volleyball Round-Up, Friday evening. The Lady Rams gave it their all in the match, but hitting errors and an aggressive ECSU team combined to give the Lady Rams their second straight conference loss of the day.
The Lady Rams fell to the Lady Vikings, 25-15, 14-25, 13-25, and 23-25. The loss came in spite of a solid overall effort by the Lady Rams as the team played some solid defense and was aggressive offensively with 92 total attacks, but the team was hampered by 24 attack errors in the loss. The team had some defensive struggles in the loss with three total blocks in the match.
WSSU sophomore outside hitter Avoni Seymour led the way for the Lady Rams with nine kills and eight digs. Fellow junior outside hitter Francesca Edgerton added six services aces. Senior setter Kiara Brown added 30 assists in the loss.
