Box Score RALEIGH, NC – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams definitely brought their offense with them when the team took a 6-2 win over the Bowie State Lady Bulldogs, Saturday. The team recorded 13 hits to surge past the Lady Bulldogs for the second WSSU win of the day at the 2012 CIAA Round-Up.
The two teams combined for 24 hits in the game with the Lady Rams totaling 13 games. Four Lady Rams totaled multiple hits in the win with four Lady Rams notching at least two hits in the game. Sophomore infielder Tanaya Pettus led the way for the Lady Rams with a two-for-four effort at the plate with two RBI. Junior Britney Cato added a pair of RBI as well.
After going scoreless for the first two innings of the game, the Lady Rams broke the scoring seal with three third inning runs. It was a Pettus two-RBI double, followed by an RBI single by junior infielder Nikki Lynch that did the damage for the Lady Rams. The team scored once again in the fifth inning with an RBI single by junior infielder Britney Cato. The Lady Rams closed out the effort with a pair of seventh-inning runs when Cato hit another RBI single, followed by an RBI single by Lane.
WSSU sophomore Yasmin Lee picked up the pitching win, going five innings for the Lady Rams with two strikeouts and one earned run allowed.
