WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams and Lady Rams track & field teams performed well in front of a hometown crowd when the teams took part in the 2012 Wake Forest Open at Kentner Stadium on the campus of Wake Forest University. With the effort, the Rams and Lady Rams got the 2012 outdoor track & field season underway on a positive note on day one of the two-day meet.
The Rams and Lady Rams had some strong performances in the middle distance events on opening day. Winston-Salem State junior Andrew Chebii had the top finish of the day for the Rams with a ninplace finish in the men's 800m run with a 1:54.75 in the event. WSSU sophomore Brittney Killebrew placed 10th in the women's 800m run with a 2:16.04 in the event. Senior sprinter Shanika Lamons placed 10th in the women's 400m dash as well with a 56.60.
