Lady Rams Break Out for 18-0 Win Over Elizabeth City State

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (7-7, 3-0 CIAA) fought off the cold weather to score a big 18-0 win over the Elizabeth City State Lady Vikings (0-3, 0-3 CIAA), Sunday afternoon. The Lady Rams took the win using a combination of quality hitting and several Lady Vikings errors to claim the victory.

As a team, the Lady Rams scored a season-high 18 runs in the game behind 11 hits and took advantage of eight ECSU errors in the game. WSSU senior Nikki Lynch led the way for the team as she accounted for seven of the team's 18 runs with a three-for-four effort at the plate with three RBI and four runs scored in the game. Junior infielder Tanaya Pettus added a one-for-three effort with three RBI.

The Lady Rams scored in four of the five innings played. The team opened the game on a roll with 12 runs in the first three innings. After going scoreless in the fourth inning, the team made up for it with a six-run fifth inning that left the team on top, 18-0.

WSSU senior pitcher Brittany Lane (4-4) had another dominating performance, going all five innings and allowing just two hits in the game. She finished with nine strikeouts and just one walk allowed.
