WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State University Rams used another solid pitching performance, as the Rams completed a weekend sweep of the St. Augustine's University Falcons on Saturday, with a 4-3 win the series finale, at the USA Baseball Complex in Cary, NC.
With the win WSSU moves to 31-12 overall, 11-1 in the CIAA, while St. Augustine's falls to 14-14 overall, 4-8 in the CIAA.
The WSSU Rams scored single runs in the first, fourth, fifth and sixth innings to take game two from the Falcons.
Colby Keene led the Rams going 2 for 3 with two runs scored and a double, while Connor Andrus went 1 for 2 with a run scored and a run batted in. Nathan Steger finished 1 for 4 with a run scored, and Rashad Webster went 1 for 3 on the afternoon.
Devin McLemore picked up the win, going 5.0 innings, allowing four hits and two earned runs, with four walks and four strikeouts. Eric Corlett pitched 1.0 inning out of the bullpen, giving up three hits and one run, and Jordan cummings picked up the save, pitching the final inning, striking out two.
Winston-Salem State University will travel to Lenoir-Rhyne on Tuesday, before hosting the Virginia State Trojans on Saturday and Sunday in the CIAA final series of the regular season.
