Box Score 3 WINSTON-SALEM, NC – In one of the longest days in WSSU baseball history, the Rams wrapped up the regular season with three wins over Virginia State University – 6-1, 5-4 & 11-2.
WSSU had to play three games on Monday to finish rained out games from the weekend, in order to fulfill the conference mandate on playing all of its conference games.
In game one, Aaron hatch pitched a complete game, allowing just one run, while striking out five to earn the win in WSSU's 6-1 win.
Rashad Webster drove in two runs, and Connor Andrus, Dylan Dombrowskas, Jacob Barber and Taylor Idol each drove in one run each.
Gavin Culler, Connor Andrus, Dylan Dombrowskas and Jacob Barber each had two hits in the 6-1 victory.
In game two, WSSU jumped out to a 3-0 lead before the Trojans came storming back in the top of seventh inning to take a 4-3 lead.
But in the bottom of the seventh inning, after two outs, Des Roberts single to center field, followed by a single to left from Colby Keene. After a pitching change, Connor Andrus was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Jacob Barber was hit by a [pitch next to bring in a run to tie the game, setting the stage for some heroics from Gavin Culler. Culler single to center field, scoring Colby Keene to give the Rams a 5-4 walk off win.
Jordan Cummings picked up the win for the Rams.
In the final game of the afternoon, WSSU scored nine runs in their last three at-bats to pull away for an 11-2 win.
Tyler Scearce got the win for the Rams, allowing four hits and one run, while striking out five.
Gavin Culler and Jacob Barber each went 4 for 4, and Connor Andrus drove in a four runs, with Barber adding two runs batted in to pace the Rams.
