Key Runs Cost Rams in 6-1 Loss to Concord

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (3-11) played a solid game, but some key miscues cost the team in a 6-1 loss to the Concord Mountain Lions (7-6), Tuesday afternoon. The Rams had a strong overall game, but three critical innings proved to be too much for the Rams to overcome in the tough loss.

As a team, the Rams had a solid game. The team totaled seven hits, but could not get the runs they needed across the plate. Defensively, the team played well, holding Concord to just six runs in spite of 12 hits allowed. WSSU sophomore short stop Destiny Snipes led the way for the Rams, going two-for-three at the plate with an RBI. Senior pitcher Mercedes Hargett also went two-for-three at the plate.

The Rams' sole run of the game came in the fourth inning when Snipes hit an RBI single that scored freshman catcher Sydnee Brown.

Hargett (3-5 took the pitching loss, going all seven innings with six runs allowed (six earned). She also allowed a pair of walks.
