Box Score WINSTON-SALEM, NC – Winston-Salem State opened the 2017 season with an 8-1 loss to #4 Millersville University on Friday at BB&T Ballpark.
The Rams and Marauders played a tight game until late, when WSSU errors allowed Millersville to surge ahead.
The Rams were led by Ivan Acuna, who went 2 for 4 with one rbi, while john Garcia and Michael McNamara each went 1 for 3. Brandon Ford and Emlilio Abreau each finished 1 for 4.
Kanoa Hironaka took the loss for the Rams, as he went 8 1/3 innings, allowing 8 runs with four strikeouts and five walks.
Millersville was led at the plat by Dan Neff, who went 2 for 3, with one run scored and two runs batted in. Chas McCormick finished 2 for 5 with a run scored and two runs batted in, and David Summerfield also had two runs batted in, and went 1 for 4with a run scored. Manning Brookens went 2 for 3 with one run scored and one rbi, and Ben Snyder went 1 for 3 with one run scored.
