Box Score WINSTON-SALEM, NC – Winston-Salem State dropped game one of today's double header with PSAC foe, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, dropping game one 8-3.
With the loss, the WSSU Rams fall to 5-11 overall, while the Crimson Hawks improve to 3-3 overall.
In game one, WSSU allowed five first inning runs to the Crimson Hawks of IUP, and couldn't rally, as the Rams fell 8-3 in game one.
The Crimson Hawks would add two more run in the fourth inning, on two hits and one Ram error to push their lead to 7-0.
In the sixth, Trevor Poole reached on a single and eventually would be driven home on a Michale McNamara fielder's choice.
The Rams added two more runs in the seventh inning, when Brandon Ford opened the inning wiht a single. Ford would cross the plate on a passed ball from the catcher. Emelio Abreu would get home on an Ivan Acuna single.
Indiana University of Pennsylvania, added an insurance run in the seventh, to make the score 8-1, heading into the Rams final at-bat.
Ivan Acuna led the WSSU Rams at the plate, finishing 3 for 4 with one run batted in, while Trevor Poole went 2 for 4 with a run scored and Randy Norris went 2 for 4. Brandon ford went 1 for 4 with a run scored and Emilio Abreu went 1 for 4 with a run scored. WSSU catcher, Michael McNamara, picked up a run batted in.
Corbin Easter took the loss for WSSU, allowing the five first inning runs.
