Orangeburg, S.C. – The Winston-Salem State University volleyball team defeated Claflin in four sets (25-22, 25-15, 18-25, 25-20) Monday night in Tullis Arena.
The Rams move to (10-13, 6-6 CIAA), while the Panthers are now (11-6, 5-6 CIAA).
How it Happened
Claflin scored the first point in set one, but the Rams went on a 7-2 scoring run to take the lead and never looked back. The Rams used 14 kills to finish the set 25-22 and lead the match 1-0.
The Panthers opened set two on a 7-3 scoring run, but the Rams answered back eventually tying the match at 12-12. The Rams went on a 13-3 scoring run including 16 kills to win the set 25-15 and lead the match 2-0.
WSSU scored the first point of the match, but Claflin took a 3-1 lead and kept the momentum to take the set 25-18 and trail the match 2-1.
Winston-Salem used 15 kills, 46 total attacks, and a .022 hitting percentage in set four to win the set 25-20 and take the match 3-1.
