AIKEN, S.C.- The Winston-Salem State University women's basketball team played down to the last seconds but fell to USC-Aiken 75-70 Saturday afternoon inside the Convocation Center.
Amaya Tucker led the Rams with 16 points and two steals, followed by Jainaya Jones who finished with 12 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists.
Kennedi Simmons also finished in double figures with 11.
How it Happened
- The game was evenly split in the first quarter with both teams being tied at nine points each with 5:06 left to play in the quarter. USC-Aiken led 19-13 at the end of the first quarter.
- The Rams were tied 30-all with 3:52 remaining in the half. The Rams went into the half trailing 35-34. Tucker led all Rams with 14 points going into the half.
- WSSU took a 36-35 lead at the 8:19 mark of the third quarter. Both teams scored 16 points each in the quarter, but the Rams trailed 51-50 going into the fourth quarter.
- USC-Aiken outscored the Rams 24-20 to win the contest 75-70.
