WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Winston-Salem State University men's basketball team won their home opener, 78-48, Tuesday night against Carolina University inside the C.E. Gaines Center.
The Rams moved to 4-1 on the season and with the win, they are currently on a 16-home-win game inside the C.E. Gaines Center.
Jaylen Alston finished with 17 points, and five rebounds followed by
Isaac Parson who finished with 15. Ketron "KC" Shaw and Jaylon Gibson both scored ten points each.
The Rams opened the game on a 14-0 scoring run. A few points in the paint and a three from Jermey Dixon put WSSU up 19 with 13:05 left to play in the half.
At the under-eight-minute media timeout, the Rams were up 23 points (28-5) with 8:05 left to play in the game.
WSSU went into halftime leading by 19, 41-20.
With 16:32 left to play, Jaylen Alston hit a jump shot to give the Rams a 50-27 lead.
Winston-Salem kept the same energy and momentum the entire game and saw their biggest lead going up 33 (71-38) with 6:07 left in the game.
The Rams defeated Carolina University 78-48.
Winston-Salem State University is back in action on Friday, November 25, 2022, in the Gary Miller Classic taking on Le Moyne at 5:30 p.m. on the campus of Gannon University.
