WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.- Alleshia Pullen hit her first home run of the season as the Winston-Salem State University softball team fell to the Vikings of Elizabeth City 6-4 on Wednesday, March 16 at Twin Cities Ballpark.

Game two of the doubleheader got called due to the inclement weather.

The Rams move to 1-5 on the season while Elizabeth City improvers to 1-8.

How it Happened

• The Vikings hit the board first in the top of the first after a double from Isabel Mugaas gave them an early 1-0 lead.
• The Rams answered back in the bottom of the first taking a 2-1 lead after an RBI double by SeQuoia Wingfield and an RBI to centerfield by Teanna Davis.
• Elizabeth City added two more runs in the top of the second to regain the lead, (3-2).
• Makyla Brown singled to second base scoring Alexis Smith to tie the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the second.
• Muggas had her second double of the game to give the Vikings a 4-3 lead in the top of the fifth. Elizabeth City slowly pulled away with two more runs in the inning to take a 6-3 lead.
• The Rams tried to rally after Pullen hit a home run in the bottom of the seventh to cut into the Vikings lead but it fell short after Elizabeth City got the last two outs on a double play.

The Rams are back in action on Saturday, March 19 hosting Bluefield State for a doubleheader. The first pitch is scheduled for 1 pm.
