Box Score 2 RALEIGH, N.C. -The Winston-Salem State softball team concluded the CIAA Round-UP going 1-1 at Walnut Creek Park. For the weekend the Rams went 3-3.
Winston-Salem State moves to 6-8 on the season and 3-4 in conference play.
Game 1- How it Happened
- The Bulldogs got on the scoreboard first with a throwing error to take a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.
- The Bulldogs increased their lead in the bottom of the third inning with six more runs to take a 7-0 lead.
- BSU extended their lead in the bottom of the fourth after Saniya Jones hit a two-run homerun to make the score 9-0.
- Alleshia Pullen hit a home run in the top of the fifth inning to cut into the Bulldogs lead. (9-1)
- Then, an RBI single from Alexis Smith made the score 9-2 in the bottom of the fifth. Teanna Davis added to the hits with an RBI single to left field making the score 9-3.
- In the bottom of the seventh, Kendall Hudson hit an RBI double to centerfield to bring the Rams within five, but the rally was short-lived.
Game 2- How it Happened
- The Rams took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
- The Lions pulled in within one in the bottom of the first inning.
- WSSU scored five more runs in the top of the second, including a two-run homerun from Angelina Garcia to make the game 7-1.
- Lincoln cut into the Rams lead in the bottom of the third inning scoring two more runs to make the score 7-3.
- The Lions then added a run in the bottom of the fourth and fifth inning to make the score 7-5.
- The Rams scored two more runs in the top of the seventh to secure their lead to 9-5.
The Rams are back in action on Friday, April 1 taking on Johnson C. Smith. The doubleheader begins at 1 pm.
