Box Score 2 SALISBURY, N.C. The Winston-Salem State University softball team concluded its regular season with two victories over Livingstone College Friday afternoon at J.C. Optimist Park.
The Rams move to 14-10 (11-5 CIAA) after winning game one, 12-0, and game two, 13-2.
How it Happened – Game 1:
- The Rams took an early three-run lead in the top of the first inning including the Rams' first home run of the afternoon from Angelina Garcia.
- Teanna Davis also hit her first home run of the season in the top of the first.
- Alleshia Pullen added to the homerun crew with a two-run homer in the top of the second to give the Rams a 5-0 lead.
- The Rams added another run in the top of the fifth on an RBI fly-out from SeQuioa Wingfield.
- WSSU added six more in the top of the fifth to conclude the game.
- Alexis Smith pitched her first no-hitter of the season and had a season-high of nine strikeouts. She improved to 8-7 on the season.
How it Happened – Game 2:
- The Rams kept things rolling in game two, starting with a double to center field from Angelina Garcia gave WSSU an early 1-0 lead. The Rams then scored two more runs in the inning to take a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
- Livingstone answered back scoring one run and cutting into the Rams' lead, 3-1.
- The Rams then scored six more runs in the top of the second inning including another home run from Teanna Davis to take a 6-1 lead.
- The Bears scored one more point in the bottom of the fourth.
- WSSU added four more runs in the top of the fifth, including a home run from Alycia Cunningham.
- Kendal Hudson threw the entire game with seven strikeouts, improving to 9-5 on the season.
The Rams will be back in action on Tuesday, May 3 in the first round of the CIAA softball tournament.
