DURHAM, N.C. - The Winston-Salem State University football team dropped Saturday's contest to North Carolina Central University 41-0 Saturday evening inside O'Kelly-Riddick Stadium.
The Rams moved to (0-2, 0-0 CIAA) on the season, while NCCU improved to (2-0, 0-0 MEAC). The Eagles now lead the series 24-22.
NCCU's Taylor,J'Mari scored on a 5-yard run early in the first quarter, to give the Eagles a 6-0 lead. Then, with 56 seconds left in the quarter the Eagles scored another touchdown to take a 13-0 lead.
With 2:50 left in the half, the Eagles scored once more to go up 20-0.
It was all North Carolina Central in the second half scoring twice in the third and once in the fourth to finish the game with a score of 41-0.
Key takeaways from the night were Justin Fleming getting his third interception of the season at the 9:39 mark of the third quarter.
Graduate student Richard Latimer earned the start for the Rams and Freshmen quarterback Jahmier Slade saw action in his first collegiate game starting in the second half. Latimer went 2-for-6 and Slade went 3-for-4.
