MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Winston-Salem State University football team fell to Chowan 21-7 Saturday evening at Garrison Field.
The Rams are now (0-4, 0-2 CIAA), while the Hawks improved to (2-2, 2-0 CIAA).
After ending the first quarter scoreless, Chowan scored two touchdowns in the second quarter. The first one came after a bad snap for the Rams and the Hawks recovered the fumble with 4:03 left to play. Then, with 22 seconds left Jake Ray threw a 11-yard pass to Caleb Pierce to give Chowan a 14-0 lead going into the half.
With 10:41 left to play, Chowan's Nijere Peoples had a one yard run to give the Hawks a 21-0 lead.
The Rams had one chance at the 3:12 mark when
Jahmier Slade entered the game and threw a 33-yard pass to
RJ Mobley to give the Rams their only touchdown.
