CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Winston-Salem State University volleyball team defeated Johnson C. Smith in five sets (25-15, 19-25, 25-9, 20-25, 16-14) inside Braybo Gym.
The Rams move to (5-9, 2-4 CIAA), while JCSU falls to (3-7, 2-3 CIAA).
The Rams took set one, 25-15 after opening the set on a 7-3 run. A few kills from Sanna Lanier, and
Niyonna McIntyre helped the Rams increase their lead to 12-6. JCSU had a small run to cut into the Rams lead but Winston-Salem finished the set on an 8-2 run to win the set.
The Golden Bulls took set two, after exchanging points back-and-forth with the Rams. After tying the match at eight JCSU finished the set on an 17-11 run to tie the match at 1-1
.
After the Golden Bulls opened the fourth set on a 4-1 run, the Rams came back swinging finishing the set with a huge 23-5 run to win the set, 25-9 and take a 2-1 lead in the match.
JCSU won set four, 25-20 taking the match to set five and the Rams came out on top securing the victory after winning the set 16-14.
