Winston-Salem, N.C. – The Winston-Salem State men's basketball defeated Johnson C. Smith University 69-60 Thursday night inside the C.E. Gaines Center.
The Rams improved to 14-5 (6-4 CIAA), while the Golden Bulls moved to 6-12 (2-7 CIAA)
Isaac Parson led the rams in scoring with 18 points, while Samage Teel added 14 points and six assist and Jaylon Gibson added 14 points and eight rebounds.
The Rams started the game in control early and jumped out to a 10-3 lead. The Golden Bulls cut the lead to four but five straight points from Samage Teel stopped the Golden Bulls momentum. With 7:36 left to play in the first half the Rams led 27-11. The Golden Bulls kept cutting into the Rams lead, at the half the rams led 36-28.
In the second half, the Rams extended their lead 40-30 after a layup from Isaac Parsons. Every time the Golden Bulls tried to fight back in the second half, The Rams would just respond and keep the lead in double digits. The final score was 69-60
The Rams will be back in action on Saturday, January 28th at Livingstone College in Salisbury, North Carolina. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
