Women’s Basketball Came Up Short to Fayetteville State Saturday Afternoon

Fayetteville, N.C.- The Winston-Salem State University women's basketball team fell short to Fayetteville State University 63-49 inside Felton J. Capel Arena.
 
The Rams moved to (7-13, 1–9 CIAA.)
 
Erin Hall led the Rams with eight points, followed by Taniah Wilkins, Sierra Hunter Chloe Williams, La'Niya Simes, and Jakaya Mack chipped in with six points.
 
 Quick Inside the Numbers
The Rams went 15-of-52 from the field, and 19-of-29 from the free-throw line. The Rams grabbed 46 rebounds, 12 points off turnovers, 24 points in the paint, 10 second chance points, and forced 23 turnovers and 21 bench points.
 
In the first quarter, the Broncos opened the game with a 5-0 lead with 9:30 left. Taniah Wilkens got the Rams on the board with a lay-up 5-2 with 8:08 remaining. La'Niya Simes cut the Broncos' lead to one point with two made free throws 9-8 with 5:57 left. The Broncos outscored the Rams 11-4 for the remainder of the quarter, taking a 20-12 lead into the second quarter. In the second quarter, the Broncos went on an 8-0 run 32-16 with 3:35 left. Erin Hall stopped the run with two made free throws 32-18 with 3:18 left. The Rams would close out the half on a 6-0 run, cutting the Broncos lead to 10 points at halftime 32-22.
 
In the second half, the Rams went on an 8-2 run cutting the Broncos lead to four points 36-32 with 8:02 left. La'Niya Simes connected on two free throws which cut the lead to four points. The Broncos outscored the Rams 12-8 for the remainder of the quarter, taking a 48-40 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Broncos outscored the Rams 13-9.
