WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.- The Winston-Salem State University women's basketball team falls short to Virginia State University 51-48 inside the C.E Gaines Center.
The Rams moved to (5-9, 0–5 CIAA).
Amaya Tucker led the Rams with 12 points, and
Taniah Wilkins scored nine points with 11 rebounds.
Jakaiya Mack chipped in with eight points and 10 steals.

The Rams went 19-of-46 from the field, 9 -of-15 from the free-throw line, and 1-of-15 from three. The Rams grabbed 29 rebounds, scored 14 points off turnovers, 24 points in the paint, 17 bench points, and forced 23 turnovers.
In the first quarter, the Rams jumped out to an early 4-0 lead highlighted by a
Jakaiya Mack lay-up with 7:02 left.
Amaya Tucker ended a Trojans 8-0 run with a three-pointer with 4:34 left making the score 8-7. The Rams regained the lead at the end of the quarter 14-13 on a
Jakaiya Mack jumper with 42 seconds left. The Trojans took a 15-14 lead into the second quarter. In the second quarter,
Starasia Bell-Freeman gave the Rams the lead back with 9:43 left making the score 16-15. The Trojans would end the quarter on a 13-5 run giving them a 28-22 lead at halftime.
In the second half,
Amaya Tucker cut the Trojans lead down to two points with a lay-up 30-28 with 7:16 left in the third quarter. With the Trojans up 39-30 with 3:57 left
Sierra Hunter cut the lead to 39-33 with a lay-up and connecting on the and-one at the free throw line. The Trojans would take a 44-39 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter,
Amaya Tucker cut the Trojans' lead to five points, 46-41 with a lay-up with 7:16 left.
Jakaiya Mack cut the Trojans' lead down to two points 50-48 with 1:35 left on a jumper. With the score 51-48, VSU,
Amaya Tucker missed the game-tying three-pointer.
