WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Winston-Salem State University women's basketball team defeated UNC Pembroke 59-51, inside the C.E. Gaines Center Saturday afternoon.
The Rams improved to (3-8, 0–3 CIAA) on the season.
Christiana McLean led the Rams with 13 points and
Sierra Hunter with 10.

The Rams shot 24-of-55 from the field,3-of-8 from three, and 8-of-12 from the free-throw line. They grabbed 33 rebounds, and scored 30 points in the paint, eight points off turnovers, 12 second-chance points, and 37 bench points.
In the first quarter,
Kierran Walker put the Rams on the board with a three-pointer 3-2 (8:01). With the score of 10-7 Braves,
Zion Duncan made the score 10-9 on a jumper (2:58). The Braves took a 14-11 lead into the second quarter.
In the second quarter, an early Braves three-pointer extended their lead to 17-11 (9:50). A
Jakaiya Mack jumper made the score 17-15 Braves (6:50).
La'Niya Simes hit a three-pointer, cutting the score down to 21-18 (4:07). The Rams closed out the quarter on a 7-2 run, as a
La'Niya Simes lay-up made the score 25-25 with 17 seconds remaining in the quarter. The game would be tied 25-all at halftime.
In the third quarter,
Sierra Hunter put the Rams ahead 27-25 on a lay-up (9:19). The Rams went on a 5-0 run taking a 34-30 lead, on a
Kierran Walker jumper (6:21). A Christina McLean jumper extended the Rams lead to 40-37 (2:38). The Rams took a 42-39 lead into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth quarter, the Rams went on an 8-0 run, extending their lead to 50-39 on a Christana McLean lay-up (3:28). Two Christana McLean free-throws put the Rams ahead 54-44 (2:10).
Jakaiya Mack gave the Rams a 59-48 on a lay-up with 19 seconds remaining in the game.
