ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. - The Winston-Salem State University women's basketball team came up short to ECSU 58-56 inside the R.L. Vaughan Center on Saturday afternoon.
The Rams moved to (3-9, 0–4 CIAA) on the season.
Kierran Walker led the Rams with a season-high 22 points, followed by
Jakaiya Mack and
Alana Biosse, who each scored six points.

The Rams shot 18-of-53 from the field,5-of-18 from three, and 15-of-20 from the free-throw line. They Also grabbed 36 rebounds, scored 18 points in the paint, 15 points off turnovers, 17 forced turnovers, and 22 bench points.
In the first quarter,
Chloe Williams gave the Rams a 4-1 lead on a lay-up (6:05). Two
Zion Duncan free-throws extended the Rams lead to 9-1 (4:01). A step-back jumper by
Christiana McLean pushed the lead to 14-5 with 42 seconds remaining in the quarter. The Rams took a 14-7 lead into the second quarter.
In the second quarter, the Rams went on an 8-0 run, highlighted by a
Jaleesa Lanier three-pointer making the score 23-9 (5:51). The Vikings answered back with a 7-0 run, cutting the score to 23-16 (2:57).
Kierran Walker stopped the run with a three-pointer, pushing the score to 26-16 with 2:13 remaining in the half. The Rams took a 31-24 lead into halftime.
In the third quarter, the Vikings went on a 7-3 run, cutting the score to 34-31 (5:38). A
Jakaiya Mack lay-up stopped the run, giving the Rams a 36-31 lead (4:55). With the Vikings up 40-39,
Kierran Walker hit a three-pointer, putting the Rams back ahead 42-40 with 1:24 remaining in the quarter. The Rams took a 44-40 lead into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth quarter, the Vikings went on a 6-0 run, taking a 46-44 lead. Two
Kierran Walker free-throws gave the Rams a 48-46 lead (6:52). A Vikings three-pointer gave them a 51-48 (5:47). An
Alana Biosse jumper put the Rams back in front 52-51 (4:33). With the score tied at 54-54,
Jakaiya Mack put the Rams back ahead 56-54, on a lay-up with 1:17 remaining left in the game. A Vikings jumper put them ahead 58-56 with 6 seconds remaining.
Alana Biosse missed the game-tying jumper as time expired.
