WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. –
Jaylen Alston from the Winston-Salem State University men's basketball team was selected to play in the 2024 HBCU All-Star game on April 7 in Phoenix, Arizona.
Alston, a senior from Gibsonville, North Carolina was selected to be a part of 'Team Ben Wallace' and will be coached by Johnny Jones (Texas Southern University) and Jason Armstrong (Lincon (Pa.) University). His teammates will be fellow CIAA player, Tre Richardson (Elizabeth City State University), PJ Henry (Texas Southern University), Dhason Dyson (Bethune-Cookman University), Brandon Davis (Southern University), Rashad Williams (Arkansas Pine-Bluff), Tra'Michael Moton (Grambling State), Charles Smith (Prairie View A&M), Rayquan Brown (Mississippi Valley State), Jordan O'Neal (Jackson State), Jeremiah Kendall (Alcorn State), and Jourdan Smith (Grambling State).
Alston who has been named to the DII CCA All-Atlantic Region Men's Basketball team, named to the DII HBCU All-American team, was named the CIAA Player of the Year, and named to the CIAA Backcourt was averaging 18.1 points per game. Alston was third in scoring in the CIAA, first in rebounding (8.5), and first in field goal percentage.
